This work was inspired by a 1920 advertisement for mustard plaster from a Barcelona newspaper. Dali then created this 1934 poster to publicize his exhibition at the Julien Levy Gallery in New York. In 'Surrealist Poster,' which predates the Pop Art movement by 30 years, Dali paints several recognizable symbols, such as a limp watch, by this time Dali's hallmark, and other iconic images including a key that fits the painted keyhole at the right of the figure. This poster is an invitation from Dali to 'unlock' the unconscious.
Measures 11 inches by 14 inches including the matting, ready to frame.
